Saheed And Fathia When The Going Was Good
The messy divorce war engulfing Nollywood actor, Saheed Balogun and his ex-wife, actress Fathia Balogun, is becoming shambolic, as there have been accusations and counter accusations flowing back and forth.
A few days ago, the social media was agog with reports ofSaheed taking Fathia to court to stop her using his name since they were no longer married.
But out of the blues, Saheed came out to say he did not take her to the court over the name change but for something different.
This is the statement he gave out to the media: “I was accused of lying to the press on a recent rumor that has been circulating. I separated from my ex-wife, Fathia Balogun, in 2006, over 7 years ago.
“Since we were legally married in court, we had to legally divorce in court to finalize the issue. The public is welcome to go to the Lagos High Court to verify these records. This has absolutely nothing to do with any name! I am not asking or forcing Fathia to stop using the name Balogun, as it is one of the most common Yoruba names.”
But in a swift reaction, Fathia has come out to puncture the press statement made by Saheed, saying he actually dragged her to the court so as to force her to stop bearing the name.
Her publicist, Seun Oloketuyi, put out this release: “Our attention has been drawn to media reports where Saheed Balogun claims that he knows nothing about the media reports that he is in court with our client Fathia Balogun over his decision to ask his former wife to stop using his name.
“We will like to put the records straight. The case is in court and our lawyers are on it to ensure that our client retains the name.”
