On Friday, Vice President Namadi Sambo urged Nigerians to intermarry in order to foster greater national cohesion. Sambo stated this at the wedding reception of Hajiya Rakkiya Wada, the daughter of the Kogi State Governor Idris Wada, and Mr. Lateef Oseni from Lagos State, which was held at the Thisday Dome, Abuja.
The Vice President, who represented President Goodluck Jonathan at the ceremony, advised the couple that the secret of marriage was patience, fear of God and respect for each other.
"Marriage is significant as it symbolises harmony, peace, and our unity as a people. It complements what we have been doing through the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), to further achieve unity in this country," he said
Sambo had earlier witnessed the Wedding Fatiha of the couple conducted by the Chief Imam of the Kogi Stategovernment house Mosque, Mallam Junaid Mohammed at the Thisday Dome.
The ceremony was graced by the governors of Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Bauchi and Katsina states, as well as the wives of several governors.
Others present were the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Tony Anenih and several other serving and retired top government functionaries, including royal fathers from Kogi and Lagos states.
