529 Supporters of President Morsi Sentenced to Death

Today in a court in Egypt, 529 supporters of the Islamist President Mohammed Morsi  were sentenced to death.
The group was convicted of several charges, including a murder of a policeman and an attack at police.
 One of the members of the Muslim Brotherhood during a trial on Sunday. 
These 529 supporters are members of the banned Muslim Brotherhood, and are part of a larger trial that incolves over 1,200 Morsi supporters.
Out of those sentenced, 153 are currently in detention and the rest are on the run, and 17 others were acquitted. The verdict still can be appealed.
Since Morsi was removed in July last year, the authorities in Egypt have cracked down harshly on Islamists with thousands arrested and hundreds killed.
According to the report of the news agency of Associated Press, the ruling of the court was issued after two sessions and the defence lawyers had no chance to present the case. The sessions were held at the Minya court, south of Cairo.
As the reports claim, the alleged attacks took place in southern part of Egypt, in August 2013, when the security forces broke up 2 camps of Cairo protest of Morsi supporters that demanded to give the Islamist President his position back. 
The attack was followed by a backlash with hundreds killed.
