Search For Missing Malaysian Plane Continues In Smaller Area..

A multinational team continues the search for missing Malaysia Airlines plane in a narrowed search area. Up to 14 aircraft take off from air bases in Australia. 13 ships are heading to the area on April 10, 2014. 

They will search 57,923 sq km (22 364 sq miles) – the smallest designated search area in the hunt to date. See the updated map in the picture below.

The official leading the search said he believed teams were looking "in the right area".

Planes and ships are searching for debris based on analysis of ocean drift. Some of the objects have been recovered, however, none of them were believed to be associated with MH370. Continue...

Nigeria senate passes 2014 Budget

The Senate today Wednesday April 9th passed the 2014 budget totalling N4.695tr, an amount which is N52.2bn higher than the N4.642trl which was submitted by President Goodluck Jonathan to the National Assembly on December 19, 2013, through the Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Highlights of the 2014 budget as approved by the senate are, Statutory Transfers (N408,687,801,891), Debts Service (N712,000,000,000), Recurrent Expenditure (N2,454,887,566,702), Capital Expenditure (N1,119,614,631,407) while the Aggregate Expenditure is N4,695,190,000,000. (Punch)

Former wrestling star 'The Ultimate Warrior' dies at 54

One of the most iconic wrestlers of all time, James Brian Hellwig, popularly known as The Ultimate Warrior, has died at the age of 54, days after being inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hall of Fame.

According to TMZ, Warrior collapsed yesterday evening April 8th while walking to his car with his wife in Arizona outside of their hotel. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

When he was added to the Hall of Fame on April 5th, Ultimate Warrior said "One day everyone must breath his last. And at that time, all that would matter would be what you had done while you were breathing. That's what keeps your legacy living..." 

He is survived by his wife and two daughters. May his soul rest in peace...amen.

Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi will appear on April 26 before the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to introduce the highly-awaited list of 35-man provisional list for the 2014 World Cup squad.

The list has already been in the center of media coverage for weeks, with both the technical committee and the coach appearing to have collision on the choice of players.

On Friday April 4th, 23yr old Tosin Odunaiya (pictured right), a Nigerian living illegally in England tried to force his way into Buckingham Palace, seeking to see the Queen.

Tosin, who came alone, told the guards who stopped him in front of the palace, that the queen would welcome and help him as he is finding it hard to return to Nigeria. When the guards told him to step, Tosin started a shouting match with the guards, resulting in one armed soldier intervening & pointing his gun at Tosin.

Australian Search Team Detects Signals Consistent With Missing Malaysian Airlines

A month after a Malaysian plane MH370 carrying 239 people disappeared, an Australian vessel searching for the missing plane has detected signals consistent with those from the aircraft black boxes.

According to reports released on Monday, the Australian defence vessel Ocean Shield acquired the signal twice, once for more than two hours.

Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, who is leading the search, called it the “most promising lead” so far.

But he said more information was needed: “We haven’t found the aircraft yet and we need further confirmation.”

It could be recalled that the plane was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on 8 March when it disappeared. Malaysian officials say they believe it crashed in the southern Indian Ocean.

Two separate detections occurred, he said. The first was held for two hours and 20 minutes before being lost.

20 year old Sophie Aldridge gave birth to her son in November 2013 and claims she didn't know she was pregnant until the day she gave birth because she didn't have a baby bump. When no one believed her, Sophie produced pictures she took during her pregnancy...and said if anyone had told her then that she was pregnant, she never would have believed it.

‘I know it might sound stupid to some people, but I had no idea I was pregnant. To give birth suddenly and without warning as I did was absolutely terrifying. I didn’t have any symptoms. I didn’t get morning sickness. I was wearing my usual size ten clothes. I had regular periods throughout the pregnancy, and I didn’t have any cravings.’ She tells Daily Mail

Nigerians hospitalised after mob attack in S.A

Some days ago, specifically Wednesday and Thursday April 2nd and 3rd, Nigerians in Johannesburg and Pretoria were physically attacked by a group of organized gang members and Commercial Taxi drivers in South Africa. These hoodlums destroyed and looted over 25 shops belonging to Nigerians. Though no Nigerian died in the attack, Nigerian residents there say at least ten Nigerians have been hospitalized with a few battling for their lives.

The attack according to the President of the Nigerian Union in South Africa, Ikechukwu Anyene, started last week from Johanessburg where some gang members attacked some Nigerians and looted their shops. They extended the organized attack to Pretoria this week.

 

Anyene said the South Africans say they are angry with Nigerians residing there for selling illegal drugs to South Africans. Continue...

Lupita Nyong'o becomes Lancôme's first black spokesperson

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o announced yesterday Thursday April 3rd that she’s the new face of cosmetics giant, Lancôme. The actress is the beauty company’s first black ambassador. She joins other A-list ambassadors like Kate Winslet and Julia Roberts.

In a statement to the media, Lupita said she was proud to represent Lancôme and that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman's freedom to be herself.

Chris Brown flown to Washington DC with other prisoners in Con Air

A month after Beyonce's father had his child support order for his 3 year-old son Nixon slashed from  $12,000 a month to $2,400 a month, his baby mama, Alexandra, says she and the boy are headed to a homeless shelter. Because of the slash, Matthew Knowles won't have make child support payments the next two years after a court ruled that the $12k he paid for the last three years means he's paid in full until nearly 2016. 

Now Nixon's mother says Beyonce hasn't lifted a finger to help. Alexsandra tells In Touch Magazine

“I can’t imagine how Beyoncé feels knowing she has a homeless brother. I know if I were in the same position, I would reach out. Maybe she is too busy.”
